What will we be learning about in this this term?
This half term we will be writing information texts about 'The Stone Age', we will also be writing stories and poetry.
We will be focusing on improving our handwriting, use of vocabulary, spellings and joining our sentences with connectives.
This half term Year 3 will be reading ‘Stone Age Boy’ by Satoshi Kitamura, where a boy steps back in time to the Stone Age. We will also be reading ‘Fly Eagle, Fly’ an African tale by Christopher Gregorowski.

This half term we will be looking at ‘Rocks and Soils’. Children will identify, name and describe different rocks. They will compare and group different rocks and soils based on their appearance and properties. They will also explain how fossils are formed.
This term we are looking at ‘Who first lived in Britain?’ We will learn about the Stone Age to the Iron Age. We will be learning about the jobs that archaeologists do and why they are so valuable in helping us find out about history. We will also be looking at the life styles of early Britons.

Practice your weekly spellings and complete your homework each week!
Read every night to your Mum, Dad, sister, Teddy bear!
Practice mental addition and subtraction to make you more confident in Mental Maths
Discover Rocks and Soils in your garden!
Visit the library or research the Stone Age on the internet. (with your parents' supervision!)
When listening to songs on the radio, think about the vocal, rhythm, tempo, pulse, layers, instrumentals, solos that you can hear!
1x Maths 1x English challenge to be completed per week
1x Phonics/spellings practice per week
Homework will be given out on a Friday and is to be returned by Wednesday at the latest.
We have PE once a week and swimming once a week. Please make sure that you bring your PE and swimming kit in each week!!
